The UT Cost Estimator gives an early approximation of what a new
freshman can expect to pay to attend UT. It is not an application
for financial aid and the results are estimates, not guarantees.
Students who submit a UT
admission application
by December 1 (for the following fall semester) will automatically
be considered for most of UT’s admission scholarships. Students who
complete the admission process after December 1 may be awarded
scholarships as funding levels permit. To receive an award package,
you must also file a
Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA).
Students should apply for financial aid as soon as possible. April 1 is the priority deadline for all types of aid. Most of UT’s aid funds are committed by April 30. Students who delay applying for aid may find that some funds are no longer available, regardless of the information shown in UT Cost Estimator results. The UT Cost Estimator provides full information on possible aid and does not reflect funds availability.
The amounts shown for tuition, general fee, room and board, and
out-of-state surcharge are estimated standard fees for the 2007-2008
academic year. These fees become official when they are approved by
UT’s Board of Trustees. Until that action, estimated fees are
subject to change.
The UT Cost Estimator uses statistical modeling to estimate
student aid amounts. For students with substantial family assets, it
tends to overestimate Pell grant eligibility. Please keep this fact
in mind as you review your UT Cost Estimator results. To keep the
UT Cost Estimator input form short and simple, family asset
information is not requested. Please complete a FAFSA to determine
your exact aid eligibility.
The UT Cost Estimator provides estimates of the standard costs
for new freshman students. It does not attempt to list all costs
that an individual student may incur. Some students may have
additional fees associated with specific fields of study. Students
will have expenses for other items not included in the UT Cost
Estimator. Examples include books and supplies and incidental items
such as transportation and entertainment.
The UT Cost Estimator is designed for use by students graduating from high school in 2007 and enrolling in college full-time for the fall 2007 semester. It is not intended for transfer, continuing, international, or graduate students. The UT Cost Estimator is also not intended for new freshman students who start college any term other than fall semester 2007.
