COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

 

The 2008-09 scholarship application for the College of Business Administration is currently available online at www.business.utoledo.edu. This application must be completed online and submitted online.  Application deadline is January 31, 2008.  All College of Business Administration scholarships are awarded from this online application.  Questions may be directed to Dr. Terribeth Gordon at terribeth.gordon@utoledo.edu..

Note: All need-based scholarships require that a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) be on file by April 1.  Students may complete the FAFSA on the web at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov  or students may contact the Office of Student Financial Aid at 419.530.8700.  The University of Toledo school code for completing the FAFSA is 003131.  Information provided on each scholarship is subject to change. 


General

Thomas Baither Family Scholarship Fund

Recipients shall be undergraduate students who have graduated from a Northwest Ohio or Southeast Michigan high school. The freshmen year recipients shall have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a minimum ACT score of 20 upper-class recipients must have and maintain a  3.0 or higher GPA. Also based on financial need, determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid. Scholarship is renewable based on the minimum GPA requirements.

 

Fred W. and Kathleen Bostleman Scholarship Fund

A scholarship for an outstanding junior, senior or graduate student in the College of Business Administration who shows an interest in family business or entrepreneurship. The application requires an essay on a value oriented topic, dealing with family business and/or entrepreneurship.

 

Grace Spaulding Bowen Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship for a sophomore, junior, or senior business administration major who is a Toledo resident. Based on merit and extracurricular involvement.

 

Albert Celley Scholarship

Provided for any part-time or full-time student with a disability who is enrolled in the College of Business Administration.

The Center for Family Business Scholarship Fund

This scholarship is for students enrolled in the College of Business who have a major or an interest in Entrepreneurship and Family Business. Selection is based on GPA, letters of recommendation, and an essay explaining qualifications and need. Campus and volunteer activities may enhance selection, but are not required.

Century Equipment Scholarship

Scholarship for junior, senior, or graduate level students enrolled in the College of Business at The University of Toledo.  Preference will be given to graduates from the following Toledo area high schools, listed in random order:  St. Francis, St. John's, Central Catholic, Cardinal Stritch, Notre Dame, and St. Ursula.  The scholarship is based on financial need and is renewable.

 

COBA 75th Anniversary Scholarship Fund

Scholarships for business students with a GPA of 2.5 or higher who demonstrate financial need.

 

College of Business Administration Alumni Scholarship

Scholarships for junior or senior business administration majors.

 

Lawrence V. Conway Business Alumni Scholarship

Established in 2001, this scholarship is for sophomore or junior students enrolled in the College of Business Administration at UT.   First preference will be given to sons or daughters of  College of Business Administration graduates.   Recipients must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA.   Scholarship may be renewable or nonrenewable with a two-year cap. Application shall include a written profile of past accomplishments, a portfolio, and any leadership roles the students have had, including campus activities (especially those related to the CBA).   Consideration will also be given to full-time students who are working and may be limited in their opportunities to participate in activities

Robert R. Falter Scholarship Fund

Recipients shall be full-time sophomores, juniors, or seniors. Must have and maintain 2.5 GPA. Preference is given to a Toledo area high school graduate or a resident of Northwest Ohio or Southeast Michigan. Preference also given to applicants with extracurricular activities.

 

Farmer’s  Insurance Group Inc. Scholarship

Scholarship for a junior or senior student who is enrolled in the College of Business Administration.

 

Fifth Third Bank/Willa Dean Stills Minority  Scholarship

For minority students enrolled in finance, business or economics who reside in Northwest  Ohio, Southeast Michigan or within Fifth Third Bancorp market area. Applicants must be full-time students and must have a minimum of 2.5 or higher GPA. Scholarship is based on financial need. Applicants must be willing to consider current and/or future employment with Fifth Third Bank. Scholarship may be renewed, but current recipients must re-apply to be considered.

 

James R. Findlay Sr. Scholarship

Scholarship for a U.S. citizen who is a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior in the College of Business Administration. Based primarily on financial need. A minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher is required. Extracurricular and community activities, particularly past or current involvement in church related activities are considerations.

 

William B. Frey Memorial Scholarship

Scholarships for freshmen in the College of Business Administration who are graduates of a Toledo area high school.

 

GenCorp Scholarship in the College of Business Administration

Scholarship for a junior or senior business major based on financial need and merit. A letter of goals and objectives is required.

 

Greller Family Scholarship Fund

Recipients shall be students in the College of Business Administration with preference to those from Bucks County, Pennsylvania or the state of Pennsylvania. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.

 

Fred and Jill Grimm Scholarship

 

Recipients must be full-time students in the College of Business Administration. They must have and maintain a 2.8 GPA on a 4.0 grading system. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities.  Not automatically renewable, but past recipients can reapply.

 

Mervin  Herman Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship for a sophomore in the College of Business Administration who is a Toledo resident. Scholarship is based on financial need, merit, and extracurricular and community involvement.

 

John E. Herrnstein Scholarship

Scholarship for an outstanding student in the College of Business Administration.

 

I. B.  Ohio Scholarship

Scholarships competitively awarded for full-time entering freshmen who declare International Business as their major. Recipients must be Ohio residents admitted to The University of Toledo, have a minimum  ACT score of 22, and a minimum high school GPA of 3.0.

I. B.  Upper-Division Scholarship

Scholarships competitively awarded for full-time University of Toledo continuing students majoring in International Business.

Leslie Robbins Jerome Scholarship Fund

Recipients shall be graduates of Monroe College in NY, who are pursuing an MBA in UT's College of Business Administration. Shall have a 3.0 GPA or higher. Not based on financial aid and is not renewable.

 

KeyBank Diamante Latino Scholarship

 
Recipients must be Hispanic students at UT,  and be business majors or be non-science majors in the College of Arts and Sciences, in a field which could lead to a career at KeyBank.  Recipients must be from (in order of priority) Northwest Ohio, the rest of Ohio, and then the rest of the U.S.  Recipients may be entering or current freshmen, or sophomores, and can be direct-from-high school or non-traditional students.  Students shall maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher, although the scholarship may be renewed even if GPA falls below a 3.0 in the first year if student shows improvement.  The scholarship is based on need and may be renewable.  For part-time and full-time students.

 

KeyBank Minority Scholarship
 
Recipients must be minority students, other than Latino/Hispanic.  Recipients must be business majors or be non-science majors in the College of Arts and Sciences, in a field which could lead to a career at KeyBank.  Recipients must be from (in order of priority) Northwest Ohio, the rest of Ohio, and then the rest of the U.S.  Recipients may be entering or current freshmen, or sophomores, and can be direct-from-high school or non-traditional students.  Students shall maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher, although the scholarship may be renewed even if GPA falls below a 3.0 in the first year if student shows improvement.  The scholarship is based on need and may be renewable.

 

 

KeyBank/Willis Trust Business/Scholarship Fund

Scholarship for sophomores, juniors or seniors enrolled in the College of Business Administration. Recipients shall have graduated from Toledo area high schools. The scholarships are based on financial need.

 

Kinsey Determination Scholarship for the College of Business

Recipients must be full-time undergraduate students in the College of Business.  Each recipient shall be a male student with a single mother and shall have lived the majority of his life without the presence of a father or male guardian.  Scholarship shall be based on financial need.  Recipient must have a current FAFSA on file with the Office of Student Financial Aid, including the completed IRS 1040 form.  Personal achievement and strong principles are also considered when selecting a recipient.

 

Frank Kistler Scholarship in the College of Business

Scholarship for students enrolled in the College of Business.

 

Thomas Lautenbach Memorial Scholarship

Scholarships for junior, senior, or graduate students in the College of Business Administration. Scholarship is based on financial need, merit, leadership and participation in extra-curricular activities.

 

James W. and Nancy A. Lapp Scholarship

Scholarships for part-time or full-time sophomore, junior, or senior students in  the College of Business Administration with a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher.

 

Bernard J. Logan Scholarship Fund

Recipients shall be a promising sophomore, junior or senior student in the College of Business Administration at UT, with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher who demonstrates financial need.

 

Earl M. and Isabel Martin Scholarship Fund

Recipients shall be UT students majoring in finance in the College of Business. Shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Not based on financial need. Renewable.

 

MBA Association Scholarship

Scholarship for an outstanding MBA candidate in the College of Business Administration.

 

Harry and Ruth Mikesell Scholarship

Scholarship for a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in the College of Business Administration, based on need and merit.

 

Elliott L. Miller Memorial Accounting Scholarship

Students at The University of Toledo majoring in accounting in the College of Business may be eligible. It is based on financial need and a 3.0 GPA.

 

Clement O. Miniger Memorial Fund

Scholarship for a senior or graduate business administration major.

 

Robert R. Musser Scholarship Fund

Scholarship for a junior or senior student in the College of Business Administration who is a U.S. citizen and a graduate of a Toledo area high school.

 

National City Bank, Northwest Scholarship

Scholarships for junior or senior undergraduate students in the College of Business Administration. Preference will be given to minority applicants, particularly students enrolled in the Toledo EXCEL program. Recipients shall be U.S. citizens from the National City Corporation territories (Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania) with preference given to residents of Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. Recipients must demonstrate financial need and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Preference will be given to students with campus involvement and employment. An essay and one letter of recommendation are required. Students are encouraged to submit up to two additional letters of recommendation. Scholarship is not renewable, but previous recipients may reapply.

 

Donald H. and Dolores M. Saunders Scholarship Fund

Recipient must be a full-time student in the College of Business Administration with a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.5. Students must have permanent address in Oregon or east Toledo. Financial need and merit will be considered.

 

Clair K. Searles Memorial Scholarship Fund

Scholarships for sophomore, junior, or senior students in the College of Business Administration. Scholarship is based on financial need and merit.

 

Roger M. Skilliter Memorial Scholarship Fund

Scholarships for junior or senior business majors. Based on financial need and merit.

 

Charles W. and Esther Slonaker Scholarship Fund

Students in the College of Business who are U.S. citizens and permanent residents of Ohio.  Shall have evidenced good academic achievement and good citizenship.  Based on financial need.  Past recipients may re-apply.

 

Elmer Spear Scholarship

The recipients shall be selected from among the graduating seniors of high schools in Auglaize County, Ohio who are enrolling in the College of Business Administration. Recipients must have demonstrated financial need and academic achievement. Recipients should have no involvement (as a player) in interschool athletic programs at either high school or college level.

 

State Farm Insurance Company Scholarship

Scholarship for juniors or seniors in the College of Business, in the major of finance or financial services. Student must demonstrate financial need and maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA.

 

Ella Phillips Stewart Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship for a sophomore, junior, or senior needy minority student enrolled in the College of Business Administration.

 

Sucher Family Scholarship Fund

Scholarship for residents of Ohio enrolled in the College of Business Administration. The scholarship is based on financial need.

 

Charles A. Sullivan Scholarship

Scholarships for outstanding sophomore, junior or senior business majors.

 

Douglas James Tippin Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship awarded to a student in the College of Business Administration.

 

Harry & Grace Went Scholarship

Scholarships for sophomore business majors.

 

Frank W. Winker Scholarship Fund

Scholarships for graduates of Waite High School in Toledo, Ohio. Recipients shall be undergraduate students majoring in any discipline in the College of Business Administration. Scholarship will be based on financial need.  


Accounting

Alan and Karen Barry Scholarship Fund
 
Recipients must be full-time accounting majors in the College of Business Administration.  Recipients must have and maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher.  Scholarship is based on financial need.

 

Beta Alpha Psi Award

A cash award and certificate to the graduating chapter member with the highest GPA.

 

Construction Financial Management Association Scholarship

Recipients shall be sophomore, junior, senior or graduate level students majoring in Accounting and demonstrating some financial need.  This scholarship is non-renewable.

 

Ernst & Young Scholarship

Scholarship for seniors who are accounting majors in the College of Business.  Must be honor students with 3.5 minimum GPA in accounting.  No based on financial need.

 

Ernst & Young/John Zitzelberger Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship for a junior or senior accounting major. Preference will be given to graduates of Toledo Central Catholic High School or other Toledo area parochial high schools.

 

Gilmore, Jasion & Mahler Scholarship Fund

For students majoring in accounting. Applicants must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants may be full-time or part-time. Involvement in community, campus and volunteer activities may enhance their selection, but is not required.

 

Patricia Hanf Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship for a junior or senior female full-time student majoring in accounting. Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of scholastic standing, leadership, character, and demonstrated interest in the business environment. Candidate must maintain a GPA of 3.5.

 

Arnold Lapp Scholarship Fund in Accounting

Scholarship for junior, senior or graduate level students majoring in accounting. Students shall maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.

 

Lublin  Sussman Group, CPA's Scholarship for Accounting

Recipients shall be fifth-year accounting students enrolled in the Master of Science in accounting, or the Master of Business Administration concentrating in accounting.  Recipients must have completed undergraduate accounting courses specified in the Master of Science in accounting basic core, and must plan to take the CPA exam.  A minimum 3.0 GPA and financial need are required.  Recipients shall also be working while attending The University of Toledo.  The scholarship will not be renewable   however, past recipients may reapply.

 

Phyllis Tuttle O’Brien Memorial Scholarship

Scholarships for sophomore, junior or senior accounting majors.

 

Alvin E. & Richard H. Seeman Scholarship

Scholarship for a junior or senior marketing or accounting major. Based on academic achievement.

 

G. Gordon Strong Accounting Award

Award for an outstanding junior accounting major.

 

Gerald and Norma Zedlitz Scholarship Fund
 
A scholarship for sophomore, junior, or senior students majoring in finance in the College of Business Administration.  Scholarship is renewable upon recommendation of application.

Finance

William & Marjorie Alexander Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship for a finance major in his/her junior or senior year, or an MBA student in the College of Business Administration. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and Toledo area resident demonstrating financial need and academic merit.

 

Robert G. Farran Endowed Scholarship

Recipients shall be full-time juniors or seniors enrolled in the College of Business Administration who are concentrating on finance. First preference will be given to Toledo area residents, second preference to residents of the state of Ohio or others who qualify for in-state tuition. Recipients shall demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to applicants who are working while attending UT or who demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities. Scholarship will be awarded on a semester by semester basis, and is renewable.

 

Financial Planning Association of NWO Scholarship
 

Scholarships for students majoring in finance or financial services-related field, with an interest in a financial planning career. Must have an overall minimum 2.6 GPA, with a 3.0 GPA in student's major, and must have an involvement in extracurricular activities.

 

Herbert Frisinger Memorial Award

Scholarship for a sophomore, junior, or senior finance major based on scholastic achievement.

 

William G. Hodupp Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship for juniors or seniors majoring in finance or marketing.  Based on both financial need and merit.  A GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.

 

James Schieb Scholarship

 

For upper-class students in the College of Business Administration who have a declared finance major.  Recipients must be enrolled full-time.  The scholarship is renewable as long as the recipients continue to be full-time and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

 

Toledo Board of Realtors Scholarship

Scholarship for a sophomore or junior UT student in the College of Business Administration pursuing a major or minor in sales or finance. Recipient must have a 3.0 GPA or higher. Preference will be given to family members or the Toledo Board of Realtors members. Award shall be renewable.

 

Tri-State Treasury Management Association Scholarship

Scholarship for a junior or senior finance major.  


Information Systems & Operations Management

Renee V. Elicano Memorial Scholarship / APICS Scholarship Administration

Scholarship for a junior or senior ISOM major in the College of Business Administration based on financial need and merit.  


International Business

Bhal J. Bhatt Memorial International Business Scholarship
 

Recipients shall be enrolled in the College of Business Administration with a focus on international business.  Recipients shall have a 3.0 GPA or higher based on a 4.0 scale. The scholarship is renewable, but the students must apply every year.


Management

Ariss Family Fund

Recipients shall be U.S. citizens from Northwest Ohio, juniors, or seniors enrolled in the College of Business Administration majoring in management or human resource majors. Students must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.3 or higher.

 

Violet Podesta Meyer and Richard W. Meyer Management Scholarship

Scholarship for a full-time junior or senior majoring in human resource management. Scholarship is based on community and University involvement, with financial need a possible consideration.

 

Thomas N. & Gloria A. Reddington Scholarship Award

Scholarship for a junior or senior management major. Based on financial need.

 

Richard T. Rudduck Management Scholarship

Scholarship for an outstanding junior or senior management major.

 

Donald & Theresa Saul Business Scholarship

Scholarships for juniors or seniors who are majoring in marketing or management based on financial need and merit.

 

Edward H. Schmidt Scholarship Fund

Recipients shall be students in UT's College of Business with any major. Scholarship is based on academic merit, with a minimum 3.0 GPA preferred. Extracurricular activities and community involvement will also be considered. The scholarship will be awarded in order of preference, first to employees of the Ed Schmidt Auto Group, second to family members of the ED Schmidt Auto Group employees, third to any individuals meeting the remaining criteria.

 

Spartan Chemical’s /E.T. Swigart Scholarship Fund

Scholarship for junior or senior students with preference given to those majoring in operations management or management. Students shall have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and will be selected on the basis of financial need.

 

TAHRA - Roger Elrod Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship for students majoring in human resource in the College of Business Administration.  


Marketing

Great Lakes Marketing, Inc.

Scholarship for full-time sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student in the College of Business majoring in marketing. Recipients shall be an Ohio resident or shall qualify for in in-state tuition. Preference will be given to a Toledo area high school graduates or residents of Northwest Ohio or Southeast Michigan. A GPA of 3.0 is desired but not mandatory. Scholarship is not renewable but past recipients may apply.

 

Thomas R. Hart Scholarship

For sophomore, junior or senior level students in the College of Business who graduated from a Northwest Ohio high school. Recipients shall be marketing majors. Preference will be given to applicants who are actively involved in campus or community service and who maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Financial need is also a consideration.

 

W. A. Hepner Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship for junior or senior marketing students in College of Business Administration who demonstrate financial need and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Candidates should be involved in on-campus and off-campus activities. Scholarship will be applied toward instructional fees.

 

William G. Hoddup Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship for juniors or seniors majoring in finance or marketing.  Based on both financial need and merit.  A 3.0 GPA or higher is required.

 

Sales and Marketing Executives of Detroit - Education Scholarship

Scholarship is for U.S. citizens who are full-time juniors studying sales and marketing.  Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher (and must maintain this GPA during scholarship-funded semester).  Must have demonstrated some extracurricular involvement.

 

John F. Savage Marketing

Scholarship for full-or part-time marketing majors in the College of Business Administration. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. Based on need and merit. Must be an Ohio resident.

 

Donald & Theresa Saul Scholarship

Scholarships for juniors or seniors who are majoring in marketing or management based on financial need and merit.

 

Alvin E. & Richard H. Seeman Scholarship

Scholarship for a junior or senior marketing or accounting major. Based on academic achievement.

 

Toledo Association of Grocery Manufacturers Representatives Scholarship (TAGMR)

Scholarships for junior or senior marketing majors. Based on academic achievement.
